There isn’t another horologist that can narrate stories in such vivid mechanism such as Van Cleef and Arpels. Fairy tales play ballet on wrist as one contemplates in awe of the complications that orchestrates the theatre so flawlessly. At SIHH 2018, Van Cleef and Arpels introduced a string of dreamy ladies diamond watches to lust.

Let’s begin the low down with the most stunning jewellery watch by Van Cleef Arpels 2018 circa.

Dandelion Secret watch

The Yellow flower Van Cleef Arpels Watch, Dandelion Secret watch: Watch function is actually just a small part of the jewellery piece. The Dandelion Van Cleef Arpels watch works primarily as a bracelet with a hidden watch placed in the grasp of the flower. VCA secret watch can be best described as functional art. It is crafted with absolute attention to the nature of its muse . A delicate diamond ball encases the ‘trembleuse mechanism’ to animate the ball of seeds. When the hand moves, little diamonds placed as seeds of the flower, quiver delicately as if about to take flight. On the other end of the bracelet, a small quartz dial is hidden behind layers of yellow gold and yellow diamonds. Encircling the wrist, white and yellow diamonds alternate along the bracelet to recreate the outline of the leaves, before adorning the feathery seeds and petals respectively.

Forget-me-not

Forget-me-not flower watch Van Cleef Arpels: This virtuoso piece is indeed one that is impossible to forget. Van Cleef & Arpels’ savoir-faire has embodied its quartz watch in the tender symbolism of the myosotis (or forget-me-not flower). When laid flat, the bracelet reveals a bouquet of wild flowers in gentle yellow, blue and pink shades. Wrapped around the wrist, it takes on a new aspect with the appearance of a bed of pink sapphires beneath the corollas. This creation beguiles the eye with its remarkable volume, split-level articulated structure and precious transformations. Not for the light hearted!

Marguerite Secrète watch: Push the daisies here would have a completely different meaning! (pun intended). A secret watch that I would want to see on my wrist some day. Crafted with perfection and simplicity of the subtle Daisy flower. Van Cleef and Arpels has been reinterpreting nature’s glamorous creations into forever lasting eternal wearable art since 1920. Hours of the watch lay hidden behind yellow sapphires. In keeping with the Maison’s tradition of transformable creations, the watch becomes a clip by assuming the central place in foliage of yellow gold, carved using ancestral goldsmith’s techniques. With their polished openwork, the leaves seem to quiver in the breeze, in an interplay of brilliance and warm reflections.

A fairy that prefers the sun tan instead of the glowing stars. This is my kinda fairy. Van Cleef Arpels has been weaving fairy tales on its watches since before the beginning of my time. I have often found them more entertaining than the ones we read in books as children.

In the foreground, the sun is made up of two pieces one in relief and one hollow set with yellow sapphires and Spessartine Garnets, providing its orbit with an intense glow. Rays fall on the dial in three different shades of gold. The ethereal grace of the fairy is imagined with a petit rose-cut diamond face. Her dress is hand-painted in a delicate gradation from yellow to blue as the sun rays fall on her and fade away. On the engraved gold back of the case, she reappears sitting on a branch, in a scene haloed by the same rays of sun. A fine ladies diamond watch to own from SIHH 2018
