PANERAI LUMINOR 44 MM WATCH LUMINOR 1950 3 DAYS GMT 24H -4

Nothing beats the enchantment of simplicity. One glance at the new Panerai Luminor 44mm watch, ascertains my faith in the brand for this very reason.

Officine Panerai has introduced the Luminor 1950 3 Days GMT 24H, for those who travel. This is Panerai’s first watch to run on P.9003 calibre, an in house calibre.

It’s unique feature is the 24 hour GMT indication function. The GMT reading is placed within the dial real estate. Unlike several other dual time watches, second time zone function here, is not on the bezel or in a sub-dial. It is right next to first time zone, thus making dual time reading, very easy.

Panerai watch allows readability of two time zones. One is possible through hour markers in inner circle. The dial lists the second time zone in its outermost part. Second time zone is indicated in 24H GMT.

Reading time on Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days GMT 24H is made easier by the luminous numerals and markers. Interestingly, this type of construction is being used by Panerai since1930s.

How does the luminosity effect work? Luminous substance is contained between two discs and shines through holes in upper one corresponding to the markers. This increases readability even in poor light.

To view date, there is a date window at 3 o clock.  A ‘seconds’ window is placed at nine o clock. The long seconds-like-hand seen in centre dial is for reading second time zone, placed at far end of dial.

About the calibre; Panerai Luminor 44mm is their first watch to run on P.9003 calibre. It is an advanced version of P.9001 calibre.  P.9003 calibre retains primary functions of its predecessor. The automatic winding mechanism operates effectively. The hour hand is able to move independently without intervening in the hands of seconds or minutes. Panerai Luminor 44mm reference no is PAM00531.

The 44 mm case of Panerai automatic watch is AISI 316L steel, which is stainless and resistant to corrosion.

Sapphire crystal caseback also facilitates the easy reading of the circular power reserve indicator.

A remarkable element is Panerai Luminor 44mm dial watch, is Panerai’s signature locking lever. It is the device that protects the winding crown. This lever is made of brushed steel.
