Luminor Panerai 2014: Submersible Automatic in Limited 50

Offiicine Panerai has launched a Luminor series watch to mark the 10^th year anniversary of  ‘Panerai Classic Yacht Challenge’. Luminor Panerai 2014 ‘Submersible 3 Day Titanio’ is true to Panerai DNA. Yet, Panerai proposes it to be a unique creation.

A supremely limited collection, Luminor Panerai ‘Submersible 3 Day Titanio’ will see only 50 pieces made under its name. That’s about 1 for 140 million Panerai fans!

Panerai series regularly introduces new watches in the ‘Submersible’ series, but only in limited editions. One quick look at all Panerai submersible watches laid side by side (what are the chances?) will give away what makes this one, different. Luminor Panerai 2014 ‘Submersible 3 Day Titanio’ is the first submersible with Arabic numeral at 12 & 6 o’clock. Older Submersible watches indicate hours with bar markers.

The heart & soul of this exquisite timepiece is the in-house Panerai Calibre P.9000, Automatic movement. The movement is housed in a special case, similar to one used in 1950 Luminor. The bones: 28 jewels, 197 components and two barrels ensure time keeping with 3 days of reserve power. How does this automatic-winding watch, manage to store so much power? P.9000 calibre is constantly charged by oscillating weight in both directions.

At a massive 47 mm and brushed titanium, the watch looks simple, refined and practical to use. Automatic Luminor Panerai’s clean, bold and skeletonized minute and hour hands promise quick and easy readability. Small seconds-dial at 9 o’clock adds proficiency to the watch, as does the date-dial, at 3 o’clock. Luminous markings placed against a black dial, make the watch stunning even under shadows. Luminor Panerai 2014’s dial is covered by sapphire crystal glass, formed of corundum and is 4 mm thick. Made for Yachters, the watch is water resistant up-to 300 meters. A calibrated bezel, which rotates in one direction, counter clockwise, is used to keep dive/ immersion time. The crown, used to change time is protected with a signature Panerai, protection handle.

Case-back has the “10 Years of Passion” logo boldly engraved on brushed titanium. The personalised, changeable, rubber straps and titanium buckle add a sporty dash to the Luminor Panerai Titanio.

Panerai Luminor Submersible 3 day Titanio, ref: PAM00571 is a true blue Panerai. It inherits a persona of a powerful, strong and a classic timepiece. Too bad, it comes in just 50 limited pieces!
