Rare Swiss Watches To be Auctioned

Sothbey’s will auction some of the most desired Swiss Luxury Watches on October 8, 2013. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the select few timepieces. The auction of Rare Swiss Watches will take place at the Hong Kong Convention Centre. About 500 pieces will be auctioned and are expected to fetch over US$14 Million.

Patek Philippe ‘Celestial with Date’

The Patek Philippe ‘Celestial with Date’ model could be sold for US$280,000 – 350,000 or more at the Sothbey’s auction. But anyone with a distinctive taste for watches wouldn’t mind spending that much.

Fascinating engineering and imagination is what best describes this timepiece. Patek Philippe Ref. 6104G with its astronomical blue sapphire-crystal disk dial shows several astro indications like the position of the moon, meridian passage of Sirius and of the moon. There are two crowns on the watch. One is to set the time and the other is to adjust the moon and the sky.

This gem from a collection of Rare Swiss Watches comes in only white gold and has about 45 jewels in it. This watch can tell time with stellar precision.

Richard Mille RM038 tourbillon

Richard Mille RM038 tourbillon case is made of an extremely rugged and light alloy called magnesium WE 54. It is one of the lightest metals used in construction and has excellent property retention capacities at elevated temperatures. The crystal is in sapphire (1800 Vickers) with anti-glare treatment.

This watch is a limited edition 38 pieces watch and was made to honor ace US golfer, Bubba Watson, in 2011. This watch is expected to go under the hammer for US$300,000-410,000.

Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Ref. 80172

Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Ref. 80172 is made with 18K 5N pink gold watch and a see-through sapphire crystal case-back. Diameter is 44mm. The Patrimony watch has minute repeating, small second on tourbillon, perpetual calendar.

A select watch from among the collection of Rare Swiss Watches, the minute repeating mechanism includes a centripetal speed regulator, which eliminates the noise interference normally experienced with pallet systems. The result is one of the clearest chimes the company has ever produced. The Vacheron Constantin is expected to fetch US$410,000 – 620,000.

Patek Philippe Grand Complication

A connoisseur’s trophy, this watch is expected to fetch between US$710,000-840,000. It’s a rare piece from a popular Swiss watch company. Patek Philippe Grand Complication could be an owner’s pride with the103 baguette diamonds that ornate the Bezel and lugs. Patek Philippe Grand Complications Ref.5073P watch belongs to circa 2013. The watch features cathedral gong chime sound, 24-hour indicators, minute repeater and perpetual calendar and moon phase indicator.

The diamond decoration is repeated on the black lacquered dial with baguette diamonds used to mark the hours. The Patek Philippe Grand Complications Ref.5073P is available in Platinum.

The Richard Mille RM027

The Richard Mille RM027 accompanied Rafael Nadal while he conquered several grand slams and became the No.1 player in 2010. Designed and produced for the tennis legend, the RM027 is one of lightest tourbillon watch ever. It weighs mere 23 gms. Only 50 such pieces were made. Now a RM027 of year 2011, is up for grabs at Sothbey’s auction for US$320,000-450,000 or more.
