Rolex showcased many ‘firsts’ at BaselWorld 2013. The swiss watch brand launched a Daytona in Platinum, first time ever. Also, Rolex  re-vamped DayDate with splash of bright colours and leather straps! New aesthetics carved, to appeal to new and younger buyers. These watches will attract customers who want a Rolex, very different from their father’s Rolex and yet brimming with aura of most valued, classic, luxury swiss watch. Price of new Rolex DayDate is Euro 15658.

I have written about my first impressions of Platinum Daytona, in another post. Here’s a review of the colourful palette of new DayDate watches from Rolex.

A major change in original aesthetics of Rolex DayDate is introduction of leather straps. Rolex has made several Oyster DayDate watches with different combination of metals, dials and bracelets, but never a leather strap matching with striking, bright, dial colours.

How’s the first impression of Green Rolex Oyster DayDate and other colours? The new DayDate watch from Baselworld 2013 is a statement maker. New Rolex DayDate will stand out because of its bold look. It is flamboyant enough without being too blingy. A definitive attraction for nouveau riche.

Demand for a classic Rolex DayDate is always there in the market. How does a watch company reinvent a classic model, while it is still in high demand? By maintaining its distinguished features and adding a hint of modern taste. It isn’t easy to do that. Reinventing a classic model, time and again, to suit the changing taste of buyers without hampering the image established, over decades.

Rolex has not tried too hard to accommodate a modern touch in new DayDate watches. Effortless changes like adding strong colours to dial, new texture to straps, did the trick. Signature features and style like Fluted Bezel, 18 carat yellow, white, everose gold, 36mm Oyster case have been retained. New Rolex DayDate comes in blue or cherry with white gold, green or cognac matched with yellow gold and chocolate or rhodium for everose versions.
