OnePlus has been teasing consumers with glimpses of its newest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6, from the past few weeks. There have also been several leaks of the product in the past few days adding to the overall hype around the device. Now that OnePlus 6 officially launched at a global event in London, a few days before its India launch. Lets find out if it has lived up to the hype created around it.

Most of the big features were already been outed by the company in it teasers. The OnePlus 6 comes with a 6.28-inch Notched Display (19:9 aspect ratio) with an AMOLED panel, resolution of 2180 x 1080 pixels protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Along with the notched display, OnePlus also gave the phone various design changes. This is the first OnePlus device to come with a variant that has an all-glass (Gorilla Glass 5) rear panel, the dual camera setup on the rear is now vertically stacked and the sound mode rocker is now present on the right side of the phone. Also, the OnePlus 6 is now water resistant – a feature requested by the users for a long time.

The OnePlus 6 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor. It will come in two variants for RAM and storage – 6GB RAM with 64GB storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. Like previous OnePlus devices, the OnePlus 6 does not offer a microSD slot to add more storage. Its battery size is 3,300mAh and comes with OnePlus’s proprietary fast charging technology called Dash Charge. You get dual nano SIM slots, USB Type C port, 3.5mm audio jack, 4G with VoLTE, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC connectivity. On the software side, the OnePlus 6 will come with the latest Oxygen OS based on the Android 8.1 with the May security patch. You can choose between on-screen buttons or gesture navigation similar to the iPhone X. The OnePlus 6 is also one of the first devices that officially support download of the beta version of Android P.

For the camera, OnePlus has listened to the suggestion from its users. Thanks to this, the OnePlus 6’s rear camera now has optical image stabilization – a feature found on premium smartphones that helps reduce blur due to handshake. It has a 16MP + 20MP sensor with f1.7 aperture, phase detect autofocus, dual LED flash, and support for 4k video recording at 60fps. The camera comes with 2x zoom, a faster portrait mode, slow motion mode, time-lapse, panorama and a pro mode for manual controls. For selfie lovers, OnePlus 6 has a 16MP front camera with f2.0 aperture with beautification, HDR and screen flash.
The phone will be available in three color options – Mirror Black with a glossy finish and Midnight Black with a matte finish. There is also a limited edition Silk White color with a matte finish which will be available from June 2018.
